NYC Pizza Week debuts with slices you can only get for two weeks
Two-week celebration runs Sept. 20 – Oct. 4, 2026; every participating shop is independently owned, with a portion of every slice sold benefiting Slice Out Hunger.
NEW YORK, Aug. 20, 2026 — NYC Pizza Week, the first coordinated celebration of New York's independent pizzerias, will run Sept. 20 through Oct. 4, 2026, across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Participating shops will each serve a limited-edition Pizza Week Special, with New Yorkers rating each slice they eat. The event is produced by Still Hungry Hospitality LLC and grew out of NYC Pizza Crawl, the monthly event founder Andrew Young has run for nearly two years.
No chains. No VC-backed concepts. Every participating shop is independently owned — the kind of neighborhood shops that define New York pizza.
"I've spent two years walking groups into these shops, one at a time. Every shop on this list is one I've been to and stood behind. This is the version where the whole city shows up at once." Andrew Young, Founder
The starting lineup
The first five shops, curated over two years of NYC Pizza Crawl visits:
- Paulie Gee's Greenpoint — Greenpoint, Brooklyn
- Diamond Slice — Greenpoint, Brooklyn
- Slicehaus Pizzeria — West Village, Manhattan
- LTD Pizza — Hudson Square, Manhattan
- Impasto — Park Slope and Clinton Hill, Brooklyn
Additional shops and their Signature Slices will be announced at newyorkcitypizzaweek.com in the weeks ahead.
NYC Pizza Week is a celebration of independent New York pizza shops — the counters, the corner joints, the neighborhood institutions that made this city legendary. With more than 1,800 pizzerias across the city, pizza connects every New Yorker: every neighborhood, every income level, every generation. And yet New York has never stopped to celebrate itself. No shared moment. No occasion to honor the shops, the slices and the people behind them. Until now.
The Signature Slice is the mechanism — each shop creates something that exists nowhere else and disappears when Pizza Week ends. Behind every one is a shop with a story: pop-ups that finally found a permanent home, businesses born out of the pandemic, dream projects that waited years for the right corner, first businesses from immigrant families betting everything on a storefront. Pizza Week exists to put those stories in front of the city.
How it works: Each participating shop debuts a Pizza Week Special available only during the event window. Customers rate each slice they eat, and rankings use a Bayesian-adjusted scoring system — the same approach behind IMDb and Yelp ratings — so shops of every size, not just the highest-traffic spots, have a real shot at recognition. A Signature Slice / Fan Favorite award will be announced at the close of the event.
A portion of every Signature Slice sold goes to Slice Out Hunger, the NYC-based nonprofit fighting food insecurity.
