About NYC Pizza Week
Drop this in as-is — the same description every time keeps coverage consistent.
NYC Pizza Week is a citywide celebration of independent New York pizza shops, running September 20 – October 4, 2026. Participating shops across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens each craft a one-of-a-kind Signature Slice made exclusively for the event, and diners rate their favorite by text message. A portion of proceeds from every Signature Slice sold supports Slice Out Hunger, a New York-born nonprofit fighting food insecurity across the US.

Founder bio
Andrew Young
Founder, NYC Pizza Week
Short bio: Andrew Young is the founder of NYC Pizza Week and NYC Pizza Crawl, and a former organizer of Techstars Startup Weekend NYC and Reddit NYC.
Long bio: Andrew brings people together — one slice, one event, one shared idea at a time. As founder of NYC Pizza Crawl, he's built a community around the city's best pizzerias, turning a love of good food into genuine connection across neighborhoods and backgrounds. That same instinct for gathering people shows up throughout his work: for years he helped organize Techstars Startup Weekend in New York, creating an accessible entry point for first-time founders to meet, team up, and build something real over a single weekend. Before that, he ran Reddit NYC, rallying a famously online community into real-world meetups spanning food, art, and music.
